Originally performed in 1980, the play is about seven mentally ill patients and two drug addicts in a psychiatric hospital in West Beirut during the civil war. Even amid their hysteria and unrest, the patients start to make more sense than those trying to cure them. When the absurdity of the situation becomes contagious and spills over the entire medical staff, a radical decision is made. Whether or not we will all be shocked back into the system – that produced this mess in the first place – depends on your interpretation of the ending.
